Bob & Betty's, Take Two

After the success they've had with their completely revamped store on Franklin and Lincoln, the Fisher brothers have taken out the permits to remake their other shop across the parkway, the Pioneer on Franklin and Union, in the same fashion. It'll be a while yet, but the wheels are in motion.

  1. hm...interesting. I wonder if it'll have support on that side of the parkway. The produce at Pioneer was always FAR better than Fisher's -good luck to them! - Liz

  2. A large number of people live in the Ebbets Field houses. ....he only needs a small percentage to be willing pay a little more for healthy, fresh food.

Western Beef also has really good produce, and its cheap.

  3. ooo! I love our Associated for all the basics (and it has a pretty, new sign) but it'd be nice to have somewhere so close that sells organic meats and stuff. There are a few empty storefronts on this end of Franklin, it'd be good to attract a few more local businesses. Hopefully this new market would do that. Loads of Medgar Evers college kids are in this area too.

  4. i had no idea that pioneer was also a fisher bros. establishment! the revamp is necessary! i typically only go in there for beer and randomness on the way home and recently i went in and their dairy case was being dismantled and carted to the back due to a leaking pipe flooding it with water and/or coolant. as 9:55 said, would love to see some of the empty store fronts get used, as well. good to see some attention being paid to franklin south of eastern parkway!

  5. there's a good new produce market on that side of Franklin. it's very close to EP on the West side. nothing fancy, but very reasonable prices & lots of Caribbean products which is fun!
