Last Minute Saturday Updates: Crown Heights Assembly in Brower Park, Sandwiches from TasteBuds, New Garden at Barboncino

Some additional events today (don't forget about Built in Brooklyn and Silver Door from the Hoover Dam Collective, too):

- The Crown Heights Assembly, an Occupy-inspired group of local folks who come together to discuss strategies for social justice in the neighborhood, meets today at 3pm in Brower Park.

- Barboncino is proud to announce the opening of their new backyard, which looks as lovely as the rest of their space.

- TasteBuds is open, and the sandwiches are delicious, hearty, and priced in the $6-8 range. Check 'em out!

  1. Re TasteBuds, the sandwiches were indeed delicious (tried 2), but not hearty. The baguette was small, even my petite wife thought it wasn't enough. And it took about 15 minutes to get, with nobody in line in front of me. I assume these are just opening kinks that'll get worked out...hopefully.

  2. I was hoping for a better sandwich. It was dissapointing and took a while to make as well-with none in line ahead of me. The price isn't too bad but maybe you get what you pay for. I'll try Taste Buds again in a few months.

  3. The sandwiches were $8 and barely ok. Non toasted BLT with no mayo. And the Root Beer was $3.25. And it took forever. I honestly didn't care but other people will and I really want this place to do well because I like what these folks have contributed to the neighborhood. I worry that if they don't make some changes, they won't be able to compete.

  4. Nick, please advise Kevin he's gotta step up his game!! We too want to see this place succeed, but don't want to spend the $$ on paltry sandwiches. Kevin, hope you're hearing this!

  5. The folks at Serious Eats came by this week and called the BLT "within sight of top-notch" : Sounds like they've worked out a lot of those opening-day kinks - give 'em another try.
