This coming weekend we are doing a special Flatbush tour which features the culture of the West Indian Islands. The consul general of St. Lucia is expected to join us. Here are the details:

Expect to meet cool people, taste yummy food and have an all-around awesome time! Length is approx. 2 hours and includes some short walking.

- The folks at Patch have a roundup of what to do for Derby Day.

- Big ups to the crew at Mayfield, who raised over $12,000 for MS last Sunday!

- Also via Patch: Wedge, the cheese and provisions shop from Little Zelda, opens next week (May 8).

- Brooklyn native and freedom singer Richie Havens passed away last month after a long and remarkable career. This article came across my radar, remembering, among other things, his appearance at a 1994 Crown Heights concert to promote unity.

- Further down the line, keep an eye out for Ferment Fest on May 18 at LaunchPad, and the Crown Heights Animal Hospital's May 25 open house.
