The Fourth on Franklin: Rosco's Celebrates Its Birthday (and some Independence Day readings)

(Rosco's grand opening, one year ago tomorrow)

ILFA's out of town for the 4th, but for those staying in Crown Heights, Rosco's will be celebrating their  first birthday (and the nation's 237th) with an all-day happy hour: $2 Regular slices, $1 off beer and wine, $3 off pitchers and carafes. Swing by and raise a glass.

If other merchants or local spaces are hosting things for the 4th, post 'em in the comments or send them along to ILFA and I'll try to get 'em posted tonight.

Also, if you're looking for some Independence Day reading beyond the usual classics (Declaration, Gettysburg Address), ILFA recommends Frederick Douglass's "What to a slave is the Fourth of July?" One of America's greatest orators on the unfinished (then and now) struggle to realize the promise of American democracy.
