Pulp & Bean II Opens Across the Parkway

As they tweeted this morning, Pulp & Bean II has officially opened (after a soft opening yesterday) across Eastern Parkway on Franklin between President and Carroll. ILFA was there when the first P&B opened in 2009, back when a coffee shop on Franklin Avenue was considered so unlikely both the NYT and the Daily News came out and wrote about it. While this opening won't grab the same level of attention from the city press, most likely, it's still something new for those living south of the Parkway. Readers, who's been in? Thoughts?

  1. I don't understand this logic... Opening an identical coffee/bagel place across the street? I know Eastern Pkwy is wide, but come on...

  2. This looks a lot more spacious than the other one. I agree that it does seem a bit strange to open the exact same shop not even a mile away though. Hopefully this will spark the growth of commerce on the south side of Eastern Pkwy. I've been in CH for 4 years now and while the north side of Franklin has flourished quite a bit, I'd like to see it branch out to other areas.

  3. Yes looks like much more seating than the other. Best of Luck to Mo Tony and all the crew. They are very smart operators. They know what they are doing Gregory.

  4. The same family that owns Bob & Betty's (near the first PnB) owns Pulp & The Bean and they actually just closed the Pioneer Supermarket right next to the new PnB, anyone notice the pattern? I smell a new Bob & Betty's. I think they are going to establish a brand and wherever there is a Bob and Betty's, there is a Pulp & The Bean, it seems they want to Monopolize Franklin Ave which doesn't seem bad at all, a royal family of Franklin Ave - hmm has a ring to it.
